Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone finally reacts on being called Priyanka in the West. Deepika seems to be annoyed with foreign media.
Deepika Padukone, who has been mistaken for Priyanka Chopra by the foreign media in the US multiple times, says it's racist and ignorant for people to assume that people with similar skin tones are the same.
It was surely an oops moment for the 'xXx: The Return Of Xander Cage' actress Deepika Padukone to react when media didn’t recognise her at Los Angeles airport.
In an interview, Deepika said, "To me, it's racist and ignorant. And as a fellow Indian, you (the media) should also be not very happy about. I think just because people have similar skin tones, doesn't mean they are same people."
Deepika added, "As people in a place of power that the media has, instead of creating a tabloid piece out of it, people should be educating them further."
As per the video, which is going viral on social media—Deepika Padukone was mistaken for Priyanka Chopra as she stepped out of the Los Angeles airport.
The actress, however, didn't respond to the continued greetings 'Hello Priyanka' and walked away elegantly.
This is not the first time that Deepika has been referred as Priyanka by foreign media.
Deepika Padukone was similarly mistaken as Priyanka during the LA promotions of her movie 'xXx: Return Of Xander Cage'.
Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra has already established herself in Hollywood with not just a film ‘Baywatch’ lined up, but also her hit TV series 'Quantico' along with a couple of international singles.
Deepika is no less and she has also made a mark for herself in Hollywood with her first movie 'xXx: The Return Of Xander Cage' opposite Vin Diesel.
Deepika Padukone, who took everyone by storm in her Hollywood debut 'XXX: Return of Xander Cage,' feels elated after the success of the movie.
Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone have impressed audience in the US with their respective TV and film projects. The two made their presence felt in the fashion scene as they attended the New York Fashion Week.
There were reports that Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra's friendship has turned sour and all is not well between them.
But this rumour about a cold war, which was brewing between Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra, turned out to be false.
Bollywood beauties Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra have been on the popular talk show Koffee With Karan, and they had a blast talking about many things.
There were also reports that Deepika and Priyanka share cold vibes with each other, and were only faking their friendship for shutterbugs.
Their friendship dates back to the time when Deepika Padukone entered the industry.
Deepika once said in an interview that Priyanka Chopra was the first friend she made when she entered the industry.
Actress Deepika Padukone is more than happy at the success of her debut Hollywood film 'xXx: Return of Xander Cage.' She says that stepping out of her comfort zone and getting a good response for it, makes it worth taking the risk.
The 31 year-old, Deepika who was recently spotted at a promotional event, shared how heartening it was to see Indian audiences embrace her debut Hollywood project.
Deepika Padukone will next be seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Padmavati,' alongside Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor, which is slated to release on November 17, 2017.
Deepika and Priyanka are both currently trying to keep calm and focus more on their work.
Deepika, who was seen with Priyanka in Bajirao Mastani, continues to maintain good relations with Priyanka.
Reportedly, Priyanka and Deepika would be there for each other always on sets of the movie like soul sisters.
Be it for her acting skills, fashion calls or advocating social causes -- Priyanka has made a name for herself in all spheres.
Priyanka Chopra doesn't believe in drawing differences between the industries, and focuses on similarities binding the entertainment world together.
Priyanka, who features in American TV show 'Quantico,' is often on the move due to her work commitments.
On the work front, Priyanka will be seen making her much-awaited Hollywood debut with 'Baywatch,' alongside The Rock and Zac Efron, directed by Seth Gordon.
Now, as both Deepika and Priyanka are rocking the international stage, foreign media should stop getting confused, and be more careful with the names of these two beauties.
